Intranet is a private network that created by companies and organizations to allow their employee or members, authorize person and specifies customers to access the Intranet.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Intranet

Advantages : increase in productivity
                      quick access to information
                      relatively cheap to set up
                      high bandwidth - no connection limits unlike the Internet

Disadvantages : high cost of maintaining
                          separate software must be needed for Internet and e-mail
                          high cost of training - time and budget

Extranet

Extranet is a computer network that allows business outside the central company to access some part of their network.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Extranet

Advantages : work is done quickly as compared to past manual systems
                      information can be modified, updated, and changed immediately

Disadvantages : costly to apply and maintain within an organization
                           lack of face to face meeting between employees, clients and organization
